Lauren Cabaday provided the game-winning goal, pouncing on a rebound in the third period to break a 1-1 tie. Alex Levert also scored and Maddyx Lindsay supplied rock-solid goaltending for the Hornets, who played the championship game with injured teammate Saoirse Crosson's jersey hanging behind the bench and her No. 30 face painted on their cheeks. "We are all very proud of our girls. They had a tremendous weekend, playing some of their best hockey of the year against some very strong competition," said Hornets coach Al Lindsay. "The Silver Stick... was an extremely well-run tournament with great volunteers that are truly passionate about hockey. It all made for a great experience that we won't soon forget. I know that our girls are looking forward to the opportunity to come back again next year." The Hornets tied the Lightning 4-4 in their first game of the tournament, then posted a 7-1 win over Detroit Compuware and a 3-3 draw against Detroit Little Caesars.
