CHARTWELL.COM Burton to chair police board -- again Two Oakville residents with combined experience in business, law and government relations were sworn in at last week's meeting of the Halton Regional Police Services Board (HRPSB). Gary Burkett, who has more than 44 years of business experience with blue chip companies, was appointed in mid-December by Halton Regional Council as its citizen representative on the board. Jason Wadden, a partner in the litigation group at Toronto's Goodmans LLP , was selected as the provincial government's appointee. Oakville Mayor Rob Burton introduced both men at last Thursday's meeting. During the same meeting, Burton was elected chair of the board for the second year in a row after joining the HRPSB in 2010. Burton acknowledged the hard work of former HRPSB members Randy Hammell and Andrew Tyrrell. Hammell sat on the board since 2007, and Tyrell since 2006. Burlington resident Marion Yee, a registered nurse and HRPSB member since 2010, will serve as vice-chair. Wadden sits on the Mississauga Halton Health Integration Network (LHIN). The HRPSB is a seven-member civilian board that oversees capital budgets, strategic planning, policy and priorities of the Halton Regional Police. Other members on the board include Burlington Councillor Rick Craven, Oakville Councillor Jeff Knoll, and Barb Ferrone.
