Halton police's Regional Fraud Unit charged the woman, the ex-wife of a former investor who is awaiting trial for the alleged defrauding of investors of more than $11 million. Between approximately April 17, 2006 and Jan. 31, 2012, a man allegedly defrauded several investors while being the owner and operator of a local investment company -- police identified the company as RBL Capital Corporation. He was charged by Halton police on April 25, 2013. During May 2007, the woman was allegedly involved in obtaining fraudulent credit by getting a line of credit loan from a financial institution. According to Halton police, the woman falsely represented her position and income as the alleged vice-president of RBL Capital Corporation. Det. Sgt. Troy Izlakar, of the Halton Police Regional Fraud Unit, said the charges stemmed from information revealed during their investigation. Renata Dawn Schumaker is facing charges of obtaining credit by fraud and fraud over $5,000. She is scheduled to appear in Milton Provincial Court on March 4.
