Power Boat Club celebrates 50th anniversary The Oakville Power Boat Cub (O PBC ) is celebrating its 50th anniver sary' with four days of fun. music, food, drinks and live entertainment. The event begins Aug. I -4. with the official kick-off on the Friday and open ing ceremonies on Saturday at 1 1 a.m. More than MX) people are expected to attend the commemorative event, including local dignitaries, club mem bers. past members and fellow boaters from around Lake Ontario as well as Upper New York State. To take in the full weekend's events, patrons can pay-as-you-go for each event separately or buy a Weekend Package for $125 per person. The price includes three days docking, Friday welcome dinner and dance, three break fasts and Saturday and Sunday dinner, as well as games and inter-club contests on and off the water and entrance to the Saturday night entertainment featuring the Down Child Blues Band. There are other musical surprises as well as an auction, prizes, and a nostal gia session of the club's memorabilia over 50 years. Weekend packages must be pur chased by July 28. A percentage of the profits w ill be donated to a charity still to be determined. Skye's care involves chemotherapy and radiation. She also recently had a stem cell transplant from her own bone marrow. Skye's mother is Linda Leatherdale, money editor for the Toronto Sun.
