A The Courage Polar Bear Dip is more fun when you do it with a team Club to join the fun. Soccer referee Jeff Robertson will dip for the first time and represent the "striped shirts" on the team. Ward 2 Regional Councilor Cathy Duddeck will be back again in 2015 as will Emma and Julia Mogus, best known for their work with Books with No Bounds and their brother Jack, who sends ice skates to First Nations youth. Rounding out the team will be friends and family, some for their first time and others returning to share the New Year's Day excitement. As the team has grown, so too has the money it has raised for clean water projects supported by World Vision. "I honestly thought I would never be brave enough to go in. But since the dip takes place in my ward, I thought I should get out there to support it," said Damoff. "I had a blast, and really look forward to it now." Damoff encourages anyone interested to join her team. In keeping with the sports theme, Golf Canada has entered a team, complete with a caddy race, and is challenging members from their golf family, along with all sports organizations in Oakville to join them in celebrating sport and supporting clean water projects in Africa. Back this year will be Joe Eppele, 100th Grey Cup champion with the Toronto Argonauts, and currently offensive lineman with the Ottawa Redblacks. As Joe famously said after the 2013 dip, "Why go to Cuba when you have Oakville?" He's looking for some XL water wings for his dip this year. Also joining Damoff will be former boxer and newly-elected Ward 1 Town and Regional Councillor Sean O'Meara, who is Sport Organizing Chair for Boxing for the 2015 Pan/Para Pan Am Games. Team Canada's inline hockey goaltender Kendra Fisher, who is also a past member of Team Canada's national hockey program, is also hoping to brave the icy waters this year.
