Mariana Colussi-Pelaez and Sabrina Gill, who both currently train at Manjak's Gymnastics in Mississauga, will begin competition with the Beavers next fall. Colussi-Pelaez will be reunited at Oregon State with older sister, Silvia, who transferred to the school from Florida following the 2014 season. Mariana brings international experience, having trained with the Canadian and Spanish national teams in recent years. She was second on vault and eighth all-around at last year's Spanish National Championships, and helped Canada to a second-place finish at the Massilia Open Cup in France in 2013. "She is a talented gymnast that displays grace and power on every event," said Oregon State coach Tanya Chaplin. "Mariana is soft-spoken when you first meet her, but she does not shy away from hard work and taking risk. (She) will make an immediate impact." Gill has trained and competed with the Canadian national team and is currently attempting to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Summer Games. She was also part of Canada's second-place team at the Massilia Open Cup two years ago, and was the 2010 national champion on bars. At the 2013 Elite Canada competition, she was third on beam, fourth on bars and eighth on floor. "Sabrina's resume is very impressive. She is an international and national medalist on every event," Chaplin said. "Her gymnastics is world class. She has worked very hard and persevered through many challenges to achieve her success." Blades blueliner Campbell joining NCAA champ Union Minor Oaks Hockey Association product and current Oakville Blades defenceman Greg Campbell will join 2014 NCAA men's hockey champion Union College next season. "I'm just thrilled and honoured to be a part of such an amazing program like Union," Campbell said in a release posted on the Blades' website. "They continue to graduate talented players that move on with their hockey careers. Also, their academic program there is top notch." Campbell has recorded 23 points in 22 games this season for the Blades. He also competed at the Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge last weekend, and was a member of Team Canada East at last year's World Junior A Hockey Challenge. "Having the opportunity to watch Greg's development from minor midget to now, I'm very happy he's reached his goal of playing college hockey at Union," said Blades general manager Mike Daley. "Greg has worked very hard to improve his weaknesses and has become such a poised defenceman on both sides of the puck." Union College, which won its first NCAA hockey championship last year with a 7-4 victory over Minnesota in the final of the Frozen Four, already features another Oakville resident, former Blades forward Mark Bennett.
