F A M I L Y A F F A I R The Kidney Walk 2014 attracted close to 200 participants to Bronte Creek Provincial Park Saturday, for the fourth annual 5km fundraising walk. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the Kidney Foundation of Canada, which will see Kidney Walks in more than 40 communities in Ontario this year. Kidney Walk looks to help the one in 10 Canadians, who are living with kidney disease. There are more than 10,000 people in Ontario currently on dialysis and another 1,100 are on a transplant waiting list. Oakville's Mike Dakins walks with his son Owen, 2, along with Owen's cousin Linneah White, 10. Owen is scheduled for a kidney transplant Oct. 27, with his father Mike being the prospective donor. 31 | Thursday, September 25, 2014 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com | photo by Graham Paine Oakville Beaver (Follow on Twitter @halton_photog or facebook.com/HaltonPhotog) Local Events Find Fin WITHIN YOUR COMMUNITY www.insidehalton.com
