Ultimate off-ice hockey zones at the Ford Off-lce Hockey Tour This summer the Maple Leafs are trading ice for asphalt with six ultimate off-ice hockey zones for those who love the game. Ford is pleased to bring the Ford Off-ice Hockey Tour to the Oakville Waterfront Festival at Coronation Park throughout the weekend. The Ford Off-ice Hockey Tour is an example of community programming dedicated to fan and hockey development in Ontario. The Ford Off-ice Hockey Tour showcases six interactive zones that focus on fun and skill development for all. Test the accuracy of your shot on a lifesized cutout of Cujo. There are lots of big prizes to be had for those that can light up the lamp. How hard can you shoot? Find out on their inflatable slap shot machine and maybe you too can beat the hardest ever: 107 MPH by Curtis Joseph! Take your best shot and you too can win a prize. Waterfront Festival's Theme Park provides fun for all ages If you love the rush of the rides, you're bound to like what' the Oakville Waterfront Festival has in store this year. Robertson's Amusements is joining the Festival for the fifth consecutive year and they are bringing 14 of your favourites including: the Scrambler, the Dragon Coaster, bumper cars and the ever popular Ferris Wheel (from atop which you can see right across the lake on a clear day). But the theme park is so much more than rides. Maybe you visit the theme park to test your skill and win a stuffed prize or the taste of cotton candy is just too irresistible to miss. Set in the beautiful Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park, the theme park is a great activity for kids of all ages. The best part is that if you buy your tickets in advance, you are not only getting a great deal you are helping to support local charitable and non-profit organizations. The must-sees downtown On Friday night, downtown Oakville wel com es back Danny B, a dynamic entertainer who performed at the Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival last year. Danny B performs an eclectic mix o f jazz and blues with a sound that is strong and clean. He is a dynamic perform er who places a lot of importance on his interaction with the audience. He is sure to have adults and kids alike up on their feet for the entire show. This "must see" perform ance takes place on Friday, June 21, from 9-10:30 p.m. in Towne Square. Performing Saturday night on the Towne Square stage from 8-9:30 p.m. is Sonora Habanera, the perfect music to enjoy on a warm summer evening. This group comes together as the result o f the joint effort made by several experienced professional Cuban musicians. This eight-piece band clearly represents the heritage, culture and richness o f Cuban music. Their musical program offers a unique blend o f different styles of Cuban music including Salsa, Timba. Latin Jazz, Guajira, Chachacha, Son. Bolero, and much more. T heir show also features some traditional Cuban dancers whose movements, costum es and energy set the pace for people to get ready to dance and start moving to the Cuban beat! On Sunday afternoon. Downtown Oakville welcomes back the Excelsior Jazz Band, fam iliar faces to downtown having played at the Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival and Autumn Festival. They are a six-piece traditional jazz band playing in the Dixieland/New Orleans style with a repertoire comprised o f several hun dred selections including blues, spirituals, marches, show tunes from the 20's, 30's, and 40's, and novelty numbers. This band has been featured many times at Harbourfront and the Toronto Jazz Festival and CBC recorded one of their performances for national broadcast. They have also recorded two television shows for the series "Peter Appleyard Presents" that was sold to networks worldwide. Excelsior Jazz plays in the Towne Square on Sunday.
