Oakville Town council approved the new initiatives Monday night (July 21) as part of the Town's immediate action plan to help revitalize the areas and address parking concerns. "We're introducing immediate and longterm initiatives aimed at maximizing the number of residents, visitors and shoppers who frequent these great areas in Oakville," said Mayor Rob Burton in a news release. "As a council, we're always looking at ways to enhance the economic vitality, accessibility and appeal of our downtown, Kerr and Bronte districts." Both the pilot patio and outdoor display programs will begin immediately and run for three years. It will cost merchants as little as $250 or more than $10,000 each year, depending on three patio options while the permit for outdoor merchant displays will cost $110 each year.
