F U N T R A D I T I O N Students make a difference continued from p.31 really fuelled her ambitions to work in the arts. She'll be going to Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD) University in Toronto this fall for photography, but hopes to minor in media studies as well. Issa, who did most of the interviewing for the documentary, echoed Boshoff's remarks, noting she plans to study medicine in postsecondary school so learning about mental health issues was a great experience for her. Although it was a whirlwind experience, putting together the piece in just three days, she said she's pleased with the kind of impact it has had on Cala's life and the school community. "Everyone in our school, not just us, has learned a lot from Becca," she said. "There's tons of people in our school that are sharing the video and posting it and I think it's made the school a lot more closer and comfortable around Becca." D'Alesio, who is the head of the creative arts and technology department at the school, said he couldn't be more proud of his students. "These talented young ladies captured Becca's infectious positive energy, and allowed Becca to tell her story in spite of her many challenges," he said. "They should be proud of how they used their tremendous cinematography and production skills to create a positive change in their world." Boshoff and Issa also received a $1,500 cash prize, which they have split equally with Cala.
