There were a few cattle nsold which might have gone for ex- port, but they were taken for the lo- cal butcher trade. Choice butcher cattle are very scarce and the demand for them is keen. Several buyers said they were willing to pay ve cents a pound for `good cattle, but none such was `among to-day's re- lceipts. The top prices paid to-day were not `over $65, and that was paid in only a few instances for pick- .ed lots. Good straight loads sold -from $4 to $4.50, and medium. from $3.50 to $3.90.
