A special meeting of the Board of Trade ass held at the Council Chamber on Mon- day morning, to consider a proposal for the erection of a combined commercial. and summer hotel on the Whitney property. 8. H. Starr, Industrial Commissioner, said that early in the summer the suggestion had been made to him that Mrs. Whitney's summer property be -acquired as the site or a hotel. Before any steps could be `taken the announcement was made that the party had been purchased by M. T. gtliloahy, who intended breaking-it up into lots. Mentioning the matter to that gentle- man, he had said he would be_prepared to consider a proposal to sell the whole pro- perty. for a summer hotel, at a reasonable price. Before going further, Mr. Starr I had thought it desirable to find whether ' such a project would receive the support of the business community, without which it would be waste of time to proceed. The suggestion was that a modern commercial hotel. should be erected, with a capacity of 150, for all the year round, andetwo wings forsumrner use, which 'would be clos- ed in the winter. would be no difficulty in getting the com- mercial travellers to patronise such an ho- tel if the accommodation were provided. For the summer, the guests would `have beautiful grounds, and'an outlook over the- Mr. Starr believed there` i i 1 I l 1 i c l s t ( lake, as well as ready access to the water` i at Couchiching Beach Park. `He thought t vzaw@vmwww@awwaaa@avwwwwawawwaawwvwwwvzzwwwaawaw A Few Suggestiqhg tor thgge that still have Christmas Shopping to do: ues.....; . . . . . . ..5UtO$Z.00 Hanakemhief . . . . 15 to $1.25 Scarf: . . . .' $1.00. to $10.00 Gloves . . . . . . . 1, . ; . 45 to $6.00 A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS. zwvwawavwwwaavvwwavvaavwwvwaawavvwaawwwwvwyavwwvvaawmw We~take"this Opportunity to wish our many friends, and patrons AV !`II"`f\\-I 1| II'r"'!r\I-xx! r~I'1rr\ir\r'I'~- I - A `-4-? ---- -- - - A BROWN S MEN S WEAR 50 to $2.00 uuv uuu u very serious one.
