www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, December 19, 2013 | 26 Halton a top GTA employer, again Families can ring in the New Year at Mountsberg Conservation Area Halton Region has once again been recognized as one of the top employers in the GTA. The distinction -- for a third straight year -- recently came from Mediacorp, which manages the Canada's Top 100 Employers project, aiming to identify the companies and organizations that lead their industries in attracting and retaining employees. "Halton Region is committed to attracting and retaining highly-skilled and dedicated employees so that we can provide our residents with the best possible services," said Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr. "Our staff are one of the reasons 98 per cent of residents are satisfied with regional services, and I'm proud that we continue to deliver effective programs to ensure that Halton is not only a great place to live, but also a great place to work." The Region garnered two other employerrelated awards recently, including the Smart Commute Halton Employer of the Year Award from Metrolinx. Also, Oakville Hydro Corporation recognized Halton Region as a leader in conservation and demand management of electrical consumption. Families who have been looking for an outdoor, nature-themed New Year's event may like what's happening at Mountsberg Conservation Area. The event, from 6:30-9:30 p.m., will feature wagon rides, a puppet show and guided hike through the forest. There will also be snacks, including a chance to roast a hot dog or marshmallow at the campfire. Organizers will ring in the New Year at 9 p.m. so families can get younger ones home to bed and adults have time to get ready for midnight. New Year's Eve tickets cost $24 for adults, $15 for children (age five to 14 years), $15 for seniors and $5 for preschool children, plus HST. To attend the event, visitors must have a ticket. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.conservationhalton.ca/events, or in person at Mountsberg, located on Milburough Line, five kilometres west of Campbellville, Ont.
