In Grimsby, on Thursday, Oct. 29, to Sergt. Major Geo. ("H" Co., 44th Regt., now with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in England) and Mrs. Watkins, a son (Ralph George).

Grimsby's first soldier baby: Grimsby has its first soldier baby, and it is a great big lusty bouncing boy ... the little fellow arrived in this world on Thursday last and he is the son of Sergt. Major and Mrs. Watkins, Elizabeth Street. This baby has the honour of being the first child born in Grimsby while his daddy was away on active service ready and willing to fight for the old flag ... He was called to active service on August 5 and went on the canal. He enlisted with Lieut. Johnson and was accepted for service in the first Canadain contingent and is now in camp in England. The little fellow has been named Ralph George Watkins, the "Ralph" being the name of Lieut. Johnson and the "George" after his father. ...
