This comes on the heels of the popular Downtown Oakville's Midnight Madness being rained out by severe weather in early July. The annual Downtown Jazz Festival is happening this weekend, but has been pared to two days instead of three. And while the Oakville Art Society's Art in the Park drew a crowd in Bronte last weekend, Harbour Days, which has taken place every summer since being launched by the Bronte Business Improvement Association (BIA) in August 2009, is not happening. This year's event, pared to two days from three for budgetary reasons, will feature a Latin avour, including music by the likes of such musicians as two-time Grammy Award-nominated Sammy Figueroa & His Latin Jazz Explosion. "There's a bit of a Latin air this year, so that's exciting," said Downtown Oakville BIA executive director Sharlene Plewman. "It tends to work out each year somewhat organically as to the bands that we book. There isn't really a planned trend. But we do want to keep it fresh and we haven't had a Latin feel in a bit, so this gives it a new, fresh vibe for this year." The free festival is hosted by the downtown Oakville businesses and sponsors. see Downtown on p.3 OAKVILLE FOR OVER Derek Chan General Manager ger PROUDLY SERVING SPECIAL OF THE WEEK 1.9 Financing as low as 25 %* $ YEARS! 9,800 94 $ + HST & LICENSE FINANCE FOR + LICENSE TAXES INCLUDED $0 Down 60 months BI-WEEKLY A/C PW PL, 86500 kms Hyundai Certified, Stk # U7550 2009 Touring 5 speed, Ronald Chan Dealer Principal 2500 South Service Rd.
