This year, the CMC has awarded approximately $45,000 in total scholarships to the top scorers of the competition, to help them further their musical education. The national final, running from June 21 to July 2 in Sherbrooke, featured 243 competitors aged seven to 30. Over the course of three rounds of competition (regional, provincial, national), the CMC has awarded $100,000 in scholarship money. The organization's new level of certification is offered to youths aged 14-17 -- previously members had to be aged 18 to join.
