Barkley joins Ward I race The latest Ward 1 candidate brings more than a decade of experience to the table, bav- ing previously worked with town council, staff and Milton residents. Sharon Barkley is a former Milton Hydro (MH) commissioner and she was MH chair from 2000-09, before returning to ber fuli-time job managing ber own print and design business. The longtime rural Milton resi- dent says she enjoyed the 14 years - she spent working witb MH and added that running for a position- on council is something she bas wanted to do for almost 10 years. "It's a direction 1 was consider- ing when (tbe Town) tapped me Sao on the shoulder and asked me to become a board member of the newly formed Milton Hydro Holdings," said Barkley "1 think one (job) llows into tbe otber." She said some of her top prioritics as a councillor would be the hospital expansion and addressing the needs of both urban and rural residents.
