The waste includes shîngles, empty drumns and miscellaneous plastic and metal debris. Jennifer Hall, regional com- munications advisor for the West Central Region of the MOE located in Hamilton, con- ftrmed that no hazardous waste was found on the 1ith Concession Road East site. According to information provided by Hall, the waste did- n't appear to have been recently deposited. Ministry representa- tives looked at groundwater sampling resuits in the vicinity and the data indîcated that the groundwater hasn't been impacted. The site vîsit was co-ordinat- ed by the ministry to look into concerns raised by Flamborough Councillor Margaret McCarthy ai last month's public information meeting focusing on St. Mary's ,application for a Permit To Take Water (PTTXV). The aggregate company plans to do groundwa- ter pumping tests on the proper- ty to gather inform-ation about potential effects to the sur- rounding aquifer if a quarry is located there. In addition, St. Marys înust submit a written report to the MOL by June 2 of this year out- lîning the activities it bas under- taken to dlean up the site. After the inspection, St. Marys representatîves John Moroz and Melanie Horton pro- vided ministry staff with two reports related to the 2005 site contamination and remediation work conducted by a consultant for a previous owner. The min- istry also bas a 1996 site assess- ment report prepared by a con- sultant. After the cleanup bas been done, a follow tîp inspection will be conducted hy MOL staff. McCarthy said a history of c.ontamnination on the proposed quarry site exists and the inn istry lias i.onfirmned this for her. "It is au extensive file:" she added.
