The developer, lntracorp Projects Ltd. or 'Milton on the Escarpment,' has approached the Town for approvals 10 huild 123 single-detached homes ai the southeast corner of Main Street West and Tremaine Road. The plans also caîl for land to be set aside for local commercial development, parks and green- lands. The Town's administration and planning commitree perused the plans an uts meeting last week. Ward 4 Councillor Paul Scherer questioned wheis the construction work slated for Main Street West would be done, since thc proposed subdi- vision abuta il. Engineering Services Director Paul Cripps said ils scheduled for 2013, but noted the project could be accelerated. He said the Town is about to enîter anto discussions with the local developruent communiîy about the potential acceleration. "We're going to have to work with developers t0 see if a temri purary cunnectaoiî (froît the proposed subdivision) to Tremaine Road could be accom- modated," hie said, noting the Region would also have to be on board as Tremaine is one of ils roads. Ward 3 Councillor Jan Mowbray saîd she thinks roads should be rebuilt before new residents move in. It seems to me there bas to be a fundamen- tl change an the way we delîver travelable roads." At ils nmeeting last week, the adnministration and planning conmuter cndorsed tbe bouing giant's plans for 290 detacbed homes on the cast sîde of Trennaine Road, soutb of Main Street and 173 bouses south of Derry Road, between Tbompsoii Roacl and Regional Road 25. The latter would consîsi of I 56 sangle/semi- detacbed homes and 17 townhouses. Boih proposaIs are just one phase of whaî wîll ultîmately be larger subdivisions.
