Property Sattention Landfreefor college or university campus A Main Street property the Town is offening for free witb the hopes of bringnng a college or university to Milton has caught the eye of some post- secondary institutions. But staff report that no deals have been made so far on the five-acre parcel adjacent to the Milton GO station that's valued at $3.5 million. "We just started with cour marketing campaign four or five weeks ago and we've had five responses so far," said Town Manager of Economic Development Andrew Siltala. He said at this point, he can't reveal who the interested parties are. He also said the Town hopes to hear back from ail of the colleges and uni- versities it contacted within -the next month or so. The total Town-owned property is 7.5 acres, but approximately 2.5 acres is needed for the aligoment of the future Main Street underpass. The parcel, which was formerly owned by the bankrupt Pigment and Chemical Company was acquired by the Town last year through an arrange- ment with the Royal Bank of Canada and Public Works Canada. The munic- ipality obtained the land needed for the underpass and Royal Bank donated the remaining five acres. The marketing campaign is slated to run through until December 2008.
