Council passed a bylaw at its meet- ing Iast week to ban parking on Walkers Line from No. 3 Sideroad to a point 190 metres south and on Bell School Line from Steeles Avenue to No. 14 Sideroad. In a report to council, Engineering Services Director Paul Cripps explains, F"Conservation Halton states that park users and cyclists are parking on these roadways in order to avoid paying for parking at the Conservation Halton parking lots, thus creating an unsafe situation for motorists and passengers entening and exifing the parked vehi- dles as well as creating unnecessary delay for emergency vehicles because of blocked driveways." At the meeting, Steeles Avenue resi- dent Mike Grimwood suggested the Town ask Conservation Halton to reim- burse it for costs associated with thse 'No Parking sign.l He went on to a question whos going to enforce the parking prohibi- tion. Cripps said it would be looked after on a complaint basis or when theres a safety issue. But Grimwood argued that a com- plaint basis "is just not sufficient" and suggested thse Town should look at improving enforcement. Ward 3 Councillor Jan Mowbray asked Grimwood how often he would suggest enforcement should be done without having to increase thse Town's budget. He told ber that it wouldn't be diffi- cuIt to identify thse Urnes of day people would most likely be parked in thse 'No Parking' areas. Staff estimates itîIl cost $1 ,500 to instaîl thse signs.
