Battling on mighty familiar ground in Guelph, Kevin Iwasa-Madge and Alan Moffat - both part of E.C. Drury's OFSAA championship team this past season - took top honours at the Pre-Junior Canada Cup. Kevin Each won three straight matches to Iwasa-Madge finish first. Making a triumphant return from an ankle injury that had sidelîned hlm for three weeks, lwasa-Madge turned back all challengers in the 54-kg. divi- sion - adding to the gold he secured this spring at the national team trials in Edmonton. He opened st weekend7s tourna- ment with a decision over the OFSAA silver medalist and punctuated his title run with a first-round pin-faîl. Equally impressive in the 58-kg. Alan Moffat class, Moffat - this years OFSAA champ and a two-time provincial medalist - relied heavily on his defenaive prowess to reign supreme. This recently-fortified aspect of his wrestling paid particularly high divi- dends in the final, when he held s top Western Canadian opponent and member of the national cadet team. to, just a single point in winning 1-0, 2-1.
