I sec my own name often enough in print. Look, there il 18 lusi beside here. It stopped betng a ibrîll a couple decades ago, but rccently it became a big deal again. Earlîer thîs month, Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls, New York had a two-week poker evetît that attracted many of ihe top pros. There were two evenîs eacb day with varîed amounts of buy-îns. My daughter and i traveiled dow,ýn for one of îhem. fhere were 286 people in the tournament. My daughter went out fairly early. i did okay. i finished in 2th place. My daughter made ber money back and more playing poker ouîsîde of the tour- nament and I made a profit, but neither one of us were happy She wasn'î happy losîng the way she did with such bad iuck, and i wasn't happy because i didn't think i had piayed weii. i wasn'î happy i didn't lie, steal and buliy more. It probably comes casier to some people, but if you wanî 10 win at poker you have to do it. People who don't know any better wiii say everything depends on your carda. We went back the next week, both of us detennined to do better. My daughter made it about haifway through the toumnament. This lime, howcver, i lied, stole and bulied pienty like a big kid trying 10 take your candy on Halloween. i roiied over the inexpertenced players and sent On the them on their way 1 played perlectly until 1 was in the mofley in the l8th spot. i hen 1 played even better omt 1 made it to the final table. 1 kept playing well util there were eight, seven, six, five and four left. Then there were three, and i had myseif a good payday that would dout hie and triple for second and first. There was one guy older than me and one guy iii his early twenties. The young guy' and myseif were about even in chips. The older guy had a signifi- cant amounit more than boîh of us, and kepi raising almost every hand, push- ing and stealing. That was okay with me. I knew how to deal with him, but first 1 had to gel nid of the kid. The kid would have referred to both of us as old guys. The older guy finaliy foided a hand. and i took that as my eue 10 push around the kid and take some of his chips. 1 had a decent hand, but it wasn't great and 1 kept bcîting and the young guy kept calling. But i had gotten ibis far by pushîng people around and maybe i wasn't îhinkîng ciearly because we had been playing for fîve hours, but i kept at îî until A of our chips were in the pot aîndc e lippcd over a bettei hand tban mine.
