Milton counicil authorized the road widening project at is meeting last week. It also passed a bylaw 10 allow for period- ic traffic restrictions froru August 1 10 September 26. When finished, the stretch of road wiII be five lanes wide -lwo lantes for each direc- tion of traffic, plus a left turu lane down the centre. Whie the project was originally sched- uled for 2009, il's being fast-tracked 10 be dune in conjoniction with development in the area and also because the condition of the road is deterioraîing. Director of Engineering Services Paul Cripps said during construction îhrough traffic will be mainîained, with at least one latte being accessible. He said after hours îwo lanes for traffic will be kept open when possible. The need for Thompson Road 10 be widened and improved was idenîified in tbe Bristol Survey Secondary Plan. An industriallbusiness park subdivision proposed for north Milton wvas given the go-ahead by îown counicil last week. The developmenî is slated for lands on Regional Road 25 near the intersection al Campbellville Road. Council passed an amcindmient 10 a zon- ing bylaw to remove a holding symbol that was placed on the property, making way for thse business park and industrial uses.
