The éwner of the Stecles Avenue proper- ty is now proposing a truck repair facility instead, which with zoning changes would cffcctivcly remove an adult entcrtainment parlour as a perminted use for the land. That was the i-epic of a public meeting held Monday night during town council. The Town's Manager of Development Review Annse Dawkins outlined the repair facility plans, noting il's being proposcd as a temporaiy use for the land. If council approved il as temporary, it would be permaitted for lhrce years. Mfter that, counicil could review the matter and would have the option te, rencw it. A zoning bylaw amendmcnt would also be required for the land te, change it (rom ils current business park site-specifie zone to the standard business park zone. While the tcmporary nsature of the pro- posaI raiscd sonne concems at the meeting that a sîrip club could set up there afler îhree ycars, Ms Dawkins assured counicil that "this application will result in thai use nu longer being pcrmitted." Milton resident Mîke Grimwood was the only person to spcak ai the meeting. Fie askcd Town staff about the types of trucks that could be on the property and whether there would be controla on the number of vehicles permitted. Ms Dawkins said there could be "any- thing from construction-sizcd equipment te, delivery-sized equipment" al the pro- posed repair facility. She notcd there'vc been no discussions on controlling the number of trucks, but said obviously the size of the site would limait the volume of vehicles at any given lime. She added Ibis is something staff can look into further. Mr. Grimwood said hie alan has concernis regarding the ability of Sîceles Avenue to carry the extra truck traffic. He told The Champion that a truck repair facility "is ccrtainly better than a sîrip joint," adding it's important to him that tbis current permittcd use disappear. Counicil previously denicd the applica- tion that would'vc allowcd for a strip club, but it was then approvcd by the Ontario Municipal Board. Ms Dawkins said the developmenî neyer proceeded.
