Speed limit reduced onrl'wl»ss Road from Derry to Steeles Residents who travel Twiss Road wilI soon have 10 slow down when driving between Derry Road and Steeles Avenue. Town council enacted a bylaw Monday night to reduce the speed limit on the snretch of road frora 80 km/h te, 60 km/h. Recently. council also approved the reconstruction of tItis part of Twiss Road and temporary closure for certain periods between August I and November 15. "Through tie envirnnmental assessment pmocess. it was deter- mined that a road design that would support the current 80 kmn/h speed limit wouîd have excessive environmental and financial impacts," a report from Director of Engineering Services Paul Cripps said. "As a result, the road will be con- structed to support a 60 km/h limit." Engineering Services Project Co-ordinator Rick Tpping said the road will he widened and hard topped, which is an alternative to, asphalt. Before the new surface can be laid, a layer of gravel will have to be put down to strengthen and sup- port the hard top. Drainage will be improved and major culverts replaced to alleviate flooding.
