"I was a parental decision," contirmned the eider Pepper, who's sent a letter of compiaint regarding the matter to the OMHA. 1 think they (MMHA) took it a littie too far. They're trying t0 make an exampie of Chris." Agreed Greg, 1i can't believe how much fuss has been made over this. 1 think they overreacted." When it looked as though Brennan's suspension might be redueed, controversy struck again. During a Valentine's Day fundraising dance at Memoriai Arena's Lions Club Hall February 14, Monk and a number of other OMHA executives spotted Brennan eoaching a Hurricanes practice. Knowing he was toi eease ail invoivement with the team, Brennan stressed that he had nu intention of being at the practice that night. However, just an hour before it was set to stail, the suspended coach got a cati from his assistant Ron Woodworth, whose car had broken down on the way in from Kitchener. So instead of canceling the practice - which he said "ýwasn't in the best interest of the players" - Brennan went ahead and supervised it. Another eaul to the OMHA about the latter violation cemented Brennan's suspension for the remainder of 2003/04 play. ThMey've (MMHA) got their noses out of joint over this and seem to be out for revenge. fumed Brennan, who was suspended for inadvertentiy using iliega players iast season as weii. "Yes 1 broke protocol, but they (MMHA) could have gone through proper chan- nels and corne to the Hurricanes first." Monk questioned why if his organization was out toi get the Hurricane midgets, it would aliow feilow midget Nick Cardin to go there eariier in the year. He added, "tt's not for me to communicate with the Hurricanes, it's for therm toi corne to us when they want a player. -You can plead ignorance ail you want, but the miles are the miles and it's pretty hard toi dispute that they were broken.' Brennan maintains his belief that Milton Minor Hockey hits a persontal heef against him, stemming - in part - from the fact that he was originally supposed to coach the AA rnidgets this year before accepting the Hurricanes post. "Bottomn une is they're (MMHA) just urying toi show their muscle and it's our kids that are suffering because of it," he said. Meanwhile, Pepper now finds himseif back with the AA midgets, who have three games remaining in Tri County round-robin play, but are essentialiy out of championship contention.
