By ROBIN DOWNTON-POIRIER Special ta The Champion After several years of discussions to have numnerous street signs in Campbellville changed, an agreement has fmnally bren reached and new signage will be installed this spring. An infonnal meeting was held January 23 to discuss the changes that nord to he completed on the long-disputed signs. I attendance.were Town project co-ordinator Phil Antoniow, Town engineer Paul Cripps, Ward 3 Councillor Jan Mowbray, Campbellville Ares Business Association Chair Marilyn Goodao, and Bert Walton and Mike West, hoth from the Nassagaweya Community Consultation Committee. "Wr had an infonnal meeting to discuss the signs," said Mr. Antoniow. "Baaically, we are rec- ogmzing, through the signage, that Guelph Line becomes Main Street through Campbellvîlle and, because it is a minor alteration, no formai approval' was needed." Although residents refer to Guelph Line through Campbellville as Main Street, and their houses are numhered accordingly, visitors to the ares have difflculty locating specific addresses due to the problem, as the signs only state "Guelph Line." A great deal of time and effort haa bren spent on this projoct by concemned citizens over the past few years including rosearch, photographs, and soveral letters to Use Town of Milton. "Bort Walton did extensive work on this proj- ect," said Ms Mowhray. "(Ho took) pictures of Use offonding signs, researching thoir correct naines, and had to do it more than once when Use infor- mation was misplacod." The new sign descriptions and locations arr list- ed helow and will bo instslled when Use work commences in four to six werks, conflrmed Mr. Antoniow. Although most signa are Use responsihility of Use Town, a few are Use shared responsibility of Use Town and Haiton Rogion and roquirod special approval. - A new 5ign at Use Hwy. 401 off-ramp and Reid Side Road East will read "Twiss Road" with a direction arrow. - A now sign at Guelph Line and Reid Side Road will read "Brookville" with a direction anrow. .
