Hatons waste diversion rate for 2002 improved to 39.6% from 38% in 2001. Haltons resuits continue to be better than the provincial average and the best in the GTA. The waste diversion rate refers to the amount of waste that has been kept out of the Regions iandfiii through reducing, reusing or recyciing. If the related by-Iaw is passed, it will resuit in the replacement of the non- residential development charges established under the current By-Iaw 65-99, forthe HUSP non-residential development. The results of the analyses are provided in the "Haton Development Charge Background Study for the HUSP Employment Lands, (excluding North Oakville) Non-Residential Development Charges By-law". This study wiIl be available from Halton Region on May 20'h,2003 at the address isted below. The Development Charges Act, 1997 requires that at least one public meeting be heid prior to the passing of a development charges by-iaw, or any amendments to a by-iaw.
