The outdoor pageant, On the Way to Bethlehem, was held at Country Heritage Park December 6 to 9. Close to 4,000O peo- ple from across Ontario came out for the event over the four days, Ms McDonelI said. It went extremely well,- she said. "Thbe amount of people tbat camne out doubled our expectations. We saw bus loads of peo- ple corne in from Huntsville, Harriston, Waterloo and Guelph. We were just .ibsolutely thrilled.- The Nativity Pageant. a cooperative project of the Milton Christian Churcbes Working Together, was tbe braincbild of Dr. Andrea Rowbottom. About 90 volunteers acted tbrougbout the pageant's 10 scenes. wbicb depicted Mary and Joseph ini the manger, tbe Tbree Wise Men, Roman soldiers and the birtb of Jesus Christ, she continued. "Mary and Josepb also greeted the peo- ple as tbey walked in. Tbe Roman soldiers stamped passports tbat were banded out before tbey beaded into Bethlebem." The 30-minute guided tour was original- ly designed for 20 people to walk througb at a time, but because of tbe large tumnout, eacb group had to accommodate 30 to 35 people, Ms MeDonelI said. It was deftnitely an mntergenerational, family event. We had 350 volunteert, not including tbe ehoirs. "Everyone was s0 bappy witb the suc- cess. This shows that une person can make a difference."
