Britten's Ceremony of Carols 7:30 p. m., Saturday, November 24, 2001 St. Paul's United Church, Main Street, Mlton A Ceremony of Carols was inspired by Benjamin Britten's discovery of a collection of poems by 15th and 16th century writers. The songs retain their medieval flavour through Britten's extensive use of old English. The music, designed to capture a crystalline simplicity, provides complex colours, which are, in part, brought about through the accompaniment of the harp. The Milton Choristers will be pleased to welcome special guest harpist Julia Seeger. This program will be complemented by selections from Canadian composers as well as traditional favourites. Admission for Aduits m $12, Seniors/studets m $10 and Chlldren m $6. Requiem for Easter 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 2002 St. Paul's United Church, Main Street, Mlton This concert will feature Requiem by contemporary composer, John Rutter. He himself compares this work, composed in 1985, to the Requiems of both Fauré and Durufle. In creating this work, Rutter attempted to design a concert work which he says, " feels at home in a church'. Rutter's Requiem interweaves English texts with traditional Latin masses, creating a selection which is accessible to a wide audience. This afternoon's program will be rounded out with other Holy Week selections with The Greg Andrews Band. Admission for Aduits = $12, Seniors / students = $10 and Chlidren $6.
