FriClev June 25, 1999 - 9 Students, teachers honoured for workA Two students and tliree Halton Catholic District Scliool Board employees were lionoured for their contributions to Catliolic education last Tuesday night. The five were presented witli awards from thse Ontario Catliolic ScIsool Trustees Association (OCSTA) and the Ontario English Catliolic Teacliers Association (OECTA). Milton resident Lauren MacDonald received thse OCSTA Secondary Sehool Student Award. Burlington resident Andrew Hourigan received thse OCSTA Elementary School Student Award. Carol Collins, a teaclier at Holy Rosary in Burlington, received thse 1999 QECTA Educator of the Year Award. 1Ms Collins was recognized for lier kind, caring attitude and the respect she shows each of lier students. Once a week a stu- dent is chosen as the class 'super kid'. Her up-to-dste teaching methods, extra-cumrc- ular activities andI environmental involve- ment contributed to lier nomination. Janet Carter-Wriglit, a tesclier at St. John in Oakville, received tIse 1999 OECTA Lufe Member Award. Ms Carter-Wright's involvement in Catholie education began in 1973. She lias successfully tauglit ail elementary school grades. She lias sat on tIse chairs of many committees, contributed to community organizations and is dedicated to her fami- ly as well as teaching. The first recipient of thse 1999 QECTA Administrator of the Year Award was Gail Stelter, principal of St. Bernadette in Oakville. Ms Stelter was recognized as an out- standing role model of Catholie leadership who is widely known for lier spiritual and emotional support. Released 1998/99 Development Charge Background Study and draft by-law to the public on May 17, 1999; 2. Held Public Meeting on June 1, 1999 to present thse developmient charges background study, proposais and by-law pursuant to section 12 of thse Act; and 3. Presented Report CS-79-99 (Final Consideration of 1989/99 Region-Wide Development Charge Proposais and By-Law) to Administration and Finance Committee on June 16, 1999.
