Bobmar's has everything from soup to nuts and ail else in between -- food, household items, furniture, toys, books, clothing, tools, electronies, you name it, they probably have it somewhere. Groceries are the most popular item, drawing line-ups on Thursdays and Fridays. "We're only open from Thursday to, Sunday and people want dibs on the new stock as fast as possible. Located at 55 Ontario Street since 1967, Brancier is the third generation to carry on the family tradition, taking over day-to-day opera- tions with bis wife, Nadirs, in 1988. Since then he has continued to build on his grandfather's early success in Toronto -- begin- ning in 1934 -- and wants to eventually pass on the business to his two children. As a designer and craftsman of fine jewellery and a diamond expert, Brancier is one of a few certified gemological appraisers in Canada. He learned bis trade at the Gemological Institute of America in Califomia. There he met his wife, Who is a goldsmith by trade.. "I started working for people in Beverly HuIls and then decided I might as well do it for they want. We get driba and drabs of just about everything but you do have to pick through. Our motto is 'you neyer know what might be here but you know you'll always save.' We get stock clear outs, ends of lines, stock from bankmuptcies. When the truck comes on Thursdays and Fridays I always say, 'oh, look what we have today.' " The retired teachers admit they've been over- whelmed by the response from the people of Milton and they know part of their customers' dedication is their appreciation of good bar- gains and the fun atmosphere. "I love it. I've been a bargain shopper my whole life so this is perfect for me," she laughs. "We have a great deal of fun here. Plus we offer good deals. Everything should be lest here than anywhere else." Retail is challeng- ing, there's no doubt about it. But, 1 can't think of anything else I'd want to do.
