www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, April 4, 2013 | 16 One of the five most influential Canadians in the world of investing will be the keynote speaker at the Oakville Community Foundation's annual Investment Impact Presentation on April 24. A former Wall Streeter and current David Rosenberg to speak on OCF investment chief economist and strategist at the Toronto-based firm Gluskin Sheff, David Rosenberg was given the title of one of the most influential Canadians by Financial Post magazine -- he will be in Oakville to share his economic forecast with those who attend the event. "Corporate earnings growth is slowing, revenues increasingly challenged, Europe remains in recession, questions linger over the veracity of China's economic backdrop, and yet equity markets are making either cycle or all-time highs," Rosenberg said. "Never before has the fate of the market so critically hinged on central bank policy -- specifically the Federal Reserve -- as is the case today. Understanding the power and the limitations of monetary policy in this era of global debt deleveraging holds the key for successful investing." Oakville Community Foundation (OCF) CEO Rusty Baillie said hearing Rosenberg speak in town will be a privilege. "While the evening is spent reflecting on OCF's investment performance and achievements this past year, engaging speakers such as David helps us understand where the economy is going and enables OCF to build a strong investment strategy, which ultimately helps support charities in our community," he said. Rosenberg was recognized in Fortune magazine's Best and Worst of Wall Street 2011 for his accurate economic projections, and ranked most accurate forecaster for 2011 by MSNBC. "We hope by bringing speakers like David to town, we can actively raise awareness of the work of the Oakville Community Foundation and help others make informed investment decisions," said Baillie. The OCF event will be held on Wednesday, April 24 and is open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church and Heritage Centre (300 River Oaks Blvd. E.) for registration and networking, followed by the presentation at 6:30 p.m. As space is limited, those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by e-mailing judy@theocf.org or calling 905-8443562, ext. 300.
