Toys for Tots delivered Halton police are calling their 2012 Toys-for-Tots campaign a success with $284,000 in toys, gift cards, cash and food collected. Police said it assisted 3,700 families in Halton over the holidays -- 200 more than in 2011. Many new community partners joined the Toysfor-Tots campaign this year and many others continued their support including: the Oakville Minor Oaks Hockey Association and the Burlington Lions Optimist Minor Hockey Association, who collectively raised more than $85,000. Other community partners included: Canadian Tire, G.E. Water, St. Mildred's-Lightbourn School, Woodbine Entertainment, TD/Canada Trust, Ontario Standard Bred Association, Iovate Health Sciences, Halton Region, Mandarin Restaurant, Halton Honda and the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation. Civilian and uniform members of Halton police contributed their own time and personal funds to assist, collecting approximately $50,000 in cash and toys at Canadian Tire locations and donating more than $3,000 through individual platoon fundraisers. "The generosity of the community, our partners and our own members in supporting our annual campaign is a true reflection of their willingness to assist those less fortunate," said Chief Steve Tanner. 7 · Thursday, January 24, 2013 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com Bronte Harbour Nursery School ...where every single child is valued, supported, encouraged and treasured Open House and Registration Saturday January 26th 9:30am - 12noon www.bronteharbournurseryschool.ca 2489 Lakeshore Road West (Walton Church) · 905-465-3508 it all started when my baby stopped breathing... She was only three weeks old when Lexie suddenly stopped breathing in my arms. Within seconds, my beautiful, healthy baby turned blue and I was frantic. Once she was in the emergency department, the doctors and nurses took over and diagnosed Lexie with a respiratory virus. She was in the hospital for a week with monitors and oxygen devices helping her breathe, but today she is a healthy and proud big sister to her brother Liam thanks to the life-saving equipment in our hospital. Each and every year, our hospital needs hundreds of pieces of new equipment that will improve the lives of all of us here in Oakville. Every piece is critical and every piece needs to be funded by our community. It all starts here with your help. Please give generously.
