The book sale is a great way to find gently-used books from a large variety of genres and prices that can't be beat -- books are only $1.25 per pound. For hard bargainers, Sunday is even half price. The dates of the book sale at Central Branch (120 Navy St.) are as follows: · Members only sale: Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 6-9 p.m. · Public sale: Thursday, Nov. 15 from noon-9 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 16 from 9:30 a.m.-9 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 17 from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 18 from 1-4 p.m. (half price) If you would like to attend the `Members Only' evening, and are interested in the benefits of membership, please visit www. friendsofthelibrary.ca. For the cost of $10 per year, you will become a member who has the first pick of the great assortment of items at both fall and spring book sales, as well as an invitation to attend the Friends' annual general meeting. All proceeds from membership costs go directly to supporting library programs and services for the community. Our past book sales have raised almost $500,000, which has been used to support library services, such as the Battle of the Books, eReader purchases, teen writing workshops, and the Queen Elizabeth Park Cultural and Community Centre Teen Book Depot. This book depot is a great place for teens in the area to take out library books they otherwise may not have had access to, and the latest and greatest in young adult literature is lent out on an honour system basis. Not to mention, it gives teens a terrific community space to hang out, do homework or play video games. Looking to fill student community service hours, or just your time?
