First local casualty of the invasion Georgetown, July 10—Bdr. Brock Harley of the Anti-Tank 56th Battery of Lindsay, who has been serving overseas since September of 1943 has been wounded according to work just received by his wife and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Harley, of Georgetown. He is in hospital in England, suffering multiple abrasions and foot injuries.
Bdr. Harley is one of four brothers in the Canadian Army and served with an artillery reserve at Lindsay before enlisting in 1942. He trained at Petawawa and Debert before going overseas. He was the first local boy to be reported as a casualty of the invasion battle of Normandy.
Brd. Harley is the husband of Deane Perrott, Sussex Street N., Lindsay.

L|Bdr Brock J. Harley, 56th Battery, 6th Canadian Anti-tank Regiment, Canadian Army Overseas
L|Bdr Brock Haley enlisted in the Canadian Army in April 1942. He received his training at Petawawa Military Camp and at Debert, N.S. He went overseas in August 1943. His wife resides at 49 Sussex Street, N. Lindsay.
He saw action in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany, and was wounded 3 July 1944. From the 56th Battery, he transferred to the 45th Battery, RCA. Arrived home 21 November 1945 and was discharged 8 January 1946.
