subdivision on Davis Drive West Water for construc tion purposes on the houses will be provided immediately He is relieved of the responsibility tending Millard Ave a condi tion of the first agreement be tween the town and this vider in 1954 This road project will cost the town approximately Finally the town will receive from to 60000 toward the cost of a sewage disposal plant Mr has agreed to pay to Newmarket at the time that each building permit is is sued by East Gwillimbury town ship for each single dwell ing and for each duplex The resolution is as follows Whereas it is now possible to be sure of sufficient water for the presently builtup the town while also committing the town to supply sufficient water to accommodate indus tries now wishing to establish in the Newmarket And whereas more industrial assessment and wider job op portunities much needed ill Newmarket Therefore be it resolved that the Town of Newmarket under taker 1 To bring into use at once the Park Area Well thus giv ing the town an immediate re serve supply of to J gallons of water per day see April resolution re Tobacco Co To develop the well at the Green Lane as fast as possible bringing into production in eight weeks time by June 15th Capacity of this well gals one day cost of hat- 25000 NB The Town Engineer has cleared with the head of Inter national Water Supply that this well has now flowed clean and without Interruption long enough that we may be reason ably safe in bringing it into production To test the flow of Creek and Newmarket being provided with j Water Supply Co now advises that it is safe to bring into use the well at the Green Lane This well at first flowed considerable sand but has flowed clean and steady for long enough to be considered ready for use This along with the to thousand gallons per day previously re ported as in reserve gives the town a total reserve supply of to thousand gallons per day The present safe pumping of the towns three wells is and gives us a com industries included Ltd a small cigar fac tory a tobaccofirm cement block company but only the first industry was included the agreement The four factories represented an investment of 4025000 They would provide employment for approximately persons Mr said town has already under taken to supply water to the subdivision when avail able he continued water is now available as indicated in the resolution and we can now safely commit ourselves on de livery dates The town stands to gain to 60 thousand toward the cost of the sewage plant transfer of land to accommodate Ltd and thus avoid this rap idly growing industry leaving town and rate and onehalf on all water sold to the subdivision Against this the only cost to the town is the completion of Millard Ave at approximately 5000 The town must honor its agreement of course unless it wishes to invite the distrust of industry and real estate people in general Mr added We have waited two years to get something concrete from to Mr when it was available and the town was as- of an adequate supply Mr contended that the time had not arrived and that council should act as adults and slick to its pledges Mr argued that with a surplus of between and gallons per the town had its assurance of the neces sary additional water By introv the new resolution the town was carrying out its obli gations under the first agree ment he suggested The town has given an under taking to the tobacco company to develop water continued Mr and nothing could be more reassuring to them than to see town faithfully carrying out its obligation to Ltd and Mr at the first opportunity We must have more water in any case unless we are prepared to condone par alysis of this community he said Water Chairman Alex Hands said that he thought Mr Rid- figures on
