was moved into the Sharon Temple museum on Saturday The organ was built by Rich ard Toronto and in that year it was installed at the old music hall at Sharon one of the buildings constructed by the Children of Peace It was the first organ in Sharon The music hall used by the religious society was torn down years ago hut the barrel organ was kept in the district The last owner of the organ was the late Rev Robert Keswick who died a few months ago From his home it has been returned to its original location Sharon Rev was inter ested in music its history and old musical instruments He had purchased it from Mrs Elizabeth Graham Sutton a great grand daughter of David the founder of the Children of Peace and of the Sharon Temple It had been given to her by her grandfather John Willson son of David The man who built the organ Richard Coates lived in Toronto He had been a bandmaster in the British army at the battle of Waterloo and in the Peninsular Wars He was assigned to the organ in soon after a brass band had been organized In Sharon by the Children of Peace who with their leader were great music lovers Wooden Coates was an Inventor as well as an organ builder He built an which was kept on the Toronto waterfront for a number of years It was never used to save a human life but would practice with it on dogs or cats A long wooden telescope which made was also brought to the Sharon Temple museum on Saturday It was given to the museum by Ernest Lusty Rodney near St Thomas Mr Lusty is a great grandson of Richard Coates Along with the wooden telescope he sent some stones with which ground the pigments when he painted large canvass banners used by the Children of Peace during parades in Sharon and for decorations in the temple Some of the banners are now in the museum
