March 27, 1945 Local Boy Is Injured In Germany
  L.-Cpl. Joseph Bishop, 22-year-old Lindsay boy, has been wounded in the back while serving on active duty in Germany, according to word received here by his mother, Mrs. J. Bishop.
  The extent of his injuries are not fully known, but the message stated that unless complications developed no further information would be forwarded except through the soldier personally.
  L.-Cpl. Bishop's wife resides in England.
April 2, 1945 Swastika Is received By Boy's Mother
  A huge German flag, one of the largest ever seen in Lindsay was received by Mrs. J. Bishop on Friday from her son, L.Cpl. Joseph Bishop, who was recently reported wounded in action.
  The flag measures approximately 8 ft. by 25 ft. overall and bears a swastika about 46 inches square.
  Other souvenirs which were included in a bullet-ridden suitcase were, a German stein and two ornate cups.- Media Type

- This card is part of a larger collection of World War II personnel clippings. The project began in 1944 at the Lindsay Library. The intent was to gather together as much information as possible on the military record and the service of people from the Town of Lindsay and the County of Victoria (now Kawartha Lakes)who served in the war. To that end, during the years 1944, 1945, and 1946, members of the public donated photographs and updated information about their loved ones. Both library staff and the public saved and donated newspaper clippings. Some of the files contain great amounts of detail, while others have just a name.
