He initially attended ribfests to sell raffle tickets, but soon found himself drawn to the cooking trailers where he began helping out. Kent eventually picked up the travelling circus-like occupation after a former owner of Silver Bullet retired. "It's a lot of fun. I love the product and I love the people I work with and around. The rotary clubs are phenomenal and I don't think I could do a winter job all year round anyway," said Kent. "You're outside in the fresh air. Cleaning these trailers up, getting them ready. It's a lot of fun." While Kent plans on rocking the Oakville Family Ribfest, Cuttle is hopeful the inaugural event will rock Oakville to the point where residents want to experience it every year. Cuttle said that since the "death" of the Oakville Waterfront Festival, there has been a gap in the June event calendar that needs to be filled. The ribfest, he said, might just be the right fit. "We're hoping to fill that with the kind of community fun that the waterfront festival was meant to have. "This event (the ribfest), I think is a little bit more community based. There's a broader base of volunteers to run it and the business community, in terms of ribbers like us and the other food venders, really participate to the point where a lot of money can get raised and it really can become a neat family event."
