It's alleged that a 17-year-old female student from Eastdale Collegiate Institute was sexually assaulted by a teacher on Feb. 8. The student reported the allegation to school officials two days later and police were brought in. Police are concerned there may be more victims. "These are serious charges and we must act of course in the interest of student safety. The teacher was sent home immediately upon the allegation being reported and will remain away pending the outcome of the matter," said board superintendent Beth Butcher. The Gerrard St. E. school caters to a small population of just over 200 students who have mild intellectual delays. It prides itself on being a caring and supportive environment. A science teacher was arrested on Wednesday. Board officials then met with school staff. Upon completion of the study, a comprehensive Environmental Study Report will be prepared and placed on the public record for a 30-day will detail the planning process and the preferred alternative including how the public and agency input was received. You are innocent until proven guilty," Butcher said. "The school and the Toronto District School Board will be cooperating with the police in their investigation." Nachhatar Singh, 56, of Oakville, has been charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
