Student to carry NDP banner Anastasia Zavarella has been selected as the NDP candidate for the Wellington-Halton Hills riding in the May 2 federal election. Zavarella, 24, of Guelph was nominated at a meeting in Acton Sunday. She has a BA in Political Science from the University of Guelph and currently works as the University's Central Student Association Local Affairs Commissioner-- an elected position. Caledon OPP officers responded to an Airport Rd. residence about noon Monday after receiving information about a break and enter in progress. When officers arrived, a pickup truck was parked behind the vacant house and two men were seen inside attempting to steal metal pipes from inside the walls. The men didn't have permission to be on the property and were arrested at the scene without incident.
