20 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, April 7, 2011 GDHS's IB Arts Night to feature play, music and art April 14 Georgetown District High School (GDHS) will present IB (International Baccalaureate) Arts Night on April 14, 7 p.m. International Baccalaureate is a special GDHS program that focuses on enriching students' studies and school lives through international learning and a challenging course curriculum. Courses range from Economics to Experimental Science, however IB is not a program that ignores the Arts. GDHS invites the public to a free evening celebrating the program's Theatre and Fine Art classes featuring a dramatic performance, artist's displays, live music and appetizers. Visitors will be invited to view five of the IB Art students' visual displays, showcasing art they have been working on for the past two years. This presentation will act as a culminating assignan international IB examiner. All of the arts students-- Rachel Voisin, Jack Britton, Emily VanDyk, Alexis Gough and Fiona Meredith-- will answer questions after their evaluations. Also enjoy live jazz and piano music, then watch as the IB Theatre class presents WASP by Steve Martin, a play that takes a comical look inside a house that's living "The American Dream". Like the Visual students, this theatre project is an assignment that is worth 25% of their final IB grade.
