Winning Warriors Blades back atop West The Oakville Blades earned three out of a possible four points last weekend to climb back into first place in the Ontario Junior Hockey League's West Division. Oakville doubled up the Hamilton Red Wings 4-2 Friday, then dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the Markham Waxers Saturday. Both contests were played at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. Martin Kudla, Brandon Denham, Todd Bannerman and recently-acquired Tye Campbell scored Friday for Oakville, which outshot the Red Wings 36-14 in the first two periods. James Prigione made 27 saves -- including 15 in the third period -- to record the victory in net, while Liam Board and Brad Kobryn each contributed two assists. Saturday, the Blades fired 40 shots at the Markham net but only Stephen Hickey, Stefan Thompson and Denham were able to beat Waxers netminder Chris Perugini. Hickey added two assists for a three-point night, while Bradley Ryan had three helpers in the loss. Oakville will begin a threegame-in-three-nights stretch tomorrow (Thursday) when it visits the Brampton Capitals.
