Edge sharp at first meet of season Three Oakville Edge teams recently earned medals at their first meet of the season, the Bill Philips Memorial Synchronized Skating Invitational Competition in Stratford. The Edge's elementary team scored a combined total of 25.22 points to claim the gold medal, skating beautifully to beat out eight other teams from Ontario and Quebec. Members of the elementary team are Alysha Biffis, Katrina Chong, Lauren Collett, Jaime Dalby, Teja Garrido, Nicole Goverde, Sarah Hayman, Dawn Lazazzera, Victoria Morgado, Maddy North, Tegan Orr, Lesaundra Passafiume, Emma Rogers and Chloe Ryan. Oakville's juveniles collected silver in their division, scoring 37.36 points while skating to the music of `Singing in the Rain'. That team features Nikhila Butani, Isabella Del Villar, Daniela Fisico, Morgan Harrietha, Isabel Heykoop, Jasmine Hines, Julianne Li, Taylor Locke-Ribble, Madison McCowan, Anna Nemcsek, Victoria Novak, Sarah OlivoEspinosa, Hailey Roseland-Barnes, Madison Shaw and Olivia Xie. The Edge's other medalist was the adult team, which is competing this season for the first time. The group of Wendy Beriault-Orr, Maureen Callan, Laura Christian, Lisa Cole, Mary Cook-Hyslop, Amanda Damen, Lee Demerling, Cindy Depew, Laura DiBenedetto, Amber Dinda, Paula Friend, Tracey Goodwin, Jeanne Grzenda, Fiona Hall, Sue Hayes, Cindy Lee, Sue McCauley, Sue McCracken, Anne Rocchi, Kim Wallace and Jennifer Walsh skated to the music of Bruce Springsteen and earned 24.40 points. Also representing the Edge at the meet was the novice squad, which finished fifth with 57.90 points. Veronica Correia, Emma Curtis, Madelyn da Silva, Delaney Dunford, Kayla Fabiano, Juliana Giuliani, Rebecca Hill, Melissa Hopkins, Kristen McKain, Cassandra Morgado, Caroline Neely, Alexa Shelley, Samantha Wong, Stephanie Wong, Amy Yamamoto and Amanda Zimmerman skated to the music of Mary Poppins. Still to come this season for Edge skaters are meets in Chatham, Newmarket and Innisfil, as well as the provincial championships in Kingston and the Skate Canada championships in Windsor. Novice Rangers earn gold in Barrie The Oakville novice A Rangers won the championship at the recent Canadian Tire A/AE Tournament in Barrie. Oakville followed up strong round-robin performances against Owen Sound, Barrie and Nickel City with a win over Nickel City in the semifinals, then downed Hamilton 4-1 in the championship game. Members of the Rangers are Max Murski, Brant Angove, Drew Fisher, Connor Crane, Noah Pak, Will Bourque, Adam Gunner, Trent Fisher, Law Dougan, Landon Quinn, Ben Seifer, Christian Di Salvo, Will Blakely, Aidan Taylor, Mark Abraham, Michael Doherty and Aidan Hughes. Ian Taylor, Mike Dundas, Anthony Abraham and Darryl Hughes coach the Rangers.
