stopped the puck at the point and shot it behind the net Kouyoumjian out muscled the defenceman and put a nifty backhand pass on s stick in the slot Beavan one timed it for a 20 lead With just under a minute left in the opening period and Georgetown on the power play Beavan sent Kouyoumjian in on the lone defenceman It was no contest as beat both the and the goalie for a 30 lead after one Halfway physically larger club the local squad rallied in the final minutes of the game to score two unanswered goals and end the game in a 7 tie with the American team Syracuse jumped into a 2 lead in the first period but a goal by David narrowed the margin to 2 1 when the buzzer sounded Syracuse struck early in the se cond period but the Bruins rowed the lead to on a goal by David assisted by Brad Spears Syracuse extended their lead to 52 when Georgetown caught fire David scored his second and third goals of the game to earn the hat trick Kotso first goal was assisted by Scott and Gary McLean Burke set up Kotso third goal A fine solo effort by Brad Spears tied the game at with six minutes re Syracuse appeared to have the game wrapped up when they scored two goals to take a 7 lead with less than two minutes re maming However the Bruins refused to quit Jeff Hewitt slipped through the Syracuse defence on a strong rushing play and reduced the Syracuse lead to 6 with a little over a minute remaining Burke assisted on Hewitt s fine effort Coaches Curtis and decided to pull goalie David Pearson and add another forward with a faceoff in the Syracuse end zone The gamble paid off when
