Paget THE HERALD Decembers lM Satisfied with dialogue Editor note The following letter was forwarded to the Halton HIUb Herald for Mr lanS Keith Director of Planning The Corporation of the Town of Hills P 0 Box 128 Hills Drive Hills Ontario Georgetown RE Niagara Escarpment Development Permit Application Eagle Ridge Equity Parts Lots and 10 Town of Halton Hills File No HC899049 Dear Mr Keith It was a pleasure to meet with you after the November 19 1990 General Committee meeting I feel that the dialogue was both positive and constructive with regard to both of our concerns I am satisfied that the ground Country sold out To the Editor Some years ago I received an amusing birthday care It depicted on the tipper half a beautiful blonde captioned This is Edith On the lower half a delicious looking birthday cake captioned This is your cake Inside was the punch line You can have your cake and Edith too We the Canadian people decided we could indeed have both Unfortunately Edith turn ed out to be a lady of ill repute and the cake was almost in digestable This is all too descriptive of our current financial situation a public debt of some 380 billion as a result of Edith many demands and a cake or medical bill of staggering pn portfon the result of high living In less fanciful terms like it or not we have little option at this late date but to accept the fact that we have somehow sold our country out This is like taking a monstrous mortgage perhaps best handled as such say on an amortized plan of 5 or 10 years Not being an accountant myself I challenge any who are with their ingenious software and megabyte computers to come up with the appropriate annual payments Ask Mr Crow what in terest rates to use Our Auditor General should be empowered to see that these payments are made in full and on time How these monies are to be tamed does of course involve the revolting consideration of in creased taxation I leave it to the undoubted credentials of Messers Wilson and Crow to produce an acceptable answer I would be pleased even gratified to provide my personal solution but have not been asked to do so nor do I expect to be ask ed On second thoughts perhaps I may do so anyway Look for my next letter A J Eng Georgetown S Let s buy Canada back Youngster thrilled To the Editor On behalf of my son David and myself I would like to thank the Halton hills Police Department tlon Mr Derek Green 24 Hy land Avenue Georgetown Ontario L7G3A2 Dear Mr Green We sincerely thank you for your concern in the Halton Hills Herald October ding the closing of the HAC office in Hills A decision for this did not come easily The area was studied by the Club for a couple of years as to a location and the success of the office The was very proud to have opened the office January 22nd We staffed it with pro fessional persons and promoted it as to the best of our financial ability with postal walks newspaper ads and features in our News To our dismay we established only a smalt membership base in Hills It seems that many members still want to patronize the CAA offices in the Mississauga and Toronto areas We are a not for profit organization that operates only with money from our member ship base Unfortunately the of was a great financial drain on the club s operation We could not attract new members and when we held special events at the club such as Plus program only to persons would show up for the seminar compared to 50 to ico in our other branch areas The is still very commit ted to serving members in the Hills area offering all our services through our and Hamilton offices as well as 24 hour emergency road service and the Approved Auto Repair Service program We trust you will continue to enjoy your membership benefits as you have for the past 26 years
