Herald There is no way the North Halton Golf and Country Club uses the maximum amount of water for irrigation it is permit ted to use in a day said the golf course s superintendent Beeney Mr was responding to statments made by Georgetow resident Gord Vandevalk at da night town general commit tee meeting that the club is per mitted to use million gallons of water per for irrigation Mr Vandevalk us ed this example to prove that a proposed golf course for the Ac ton area may have a negative ef feet on the water supply of near by residents According to Mr the maximum amount of water he is permitted to use per day is million gallons But if the maximum amount was used there would be no golf for a week due to flooding he said The most water Mr Beeney us ed in a day this season for million gallons The average amount used has been approx unately 17 million gallons per year he said Mr Beeney predicts this figure will drop because he has been us ing an automatic irrigation system
