Ballinaf ad centre has passed its fire inspection By BETTY SOJKA Ballinaf ad Correspondent After many diligent hours over the course of the past several months the consistent efforts of Carl Volmar have paid off The Community Center has now passed a Fire Inspection In order to increase the occupan cy number permitted under a li license the centre has undergone a great number of upgrades The hall board has now reeived a letter stating that during the fire inspection held March 29 no violations of the Ontario Fire Code were found and that the maximum occupancy of the building was 299 To accomplish this fault free inspection was no small feat It took a lot of hours on the part of Carl Volmar and involv ed meetings with the Erin Township Fire Chief coordinating work to outside contractors doing some labor himself and most im portantly the followup Each in fraction had to be evaluated then Carl arranged for work to be done He monitored each job for quality and then to ensure pro per completeness Carl is a fine ex ample of an individual already oc cupied with running his own business Farms Nursery on the Seventh Line whose efforts have made the com munity a better place Thanks Carl Now the board must negotiate with the Liquor Licens ing Board to formally upgrade the occupancy level alllowed on liquor permits If Mother Nature cooperates and does not bless us with April showers work will on the community centre parking lot Parking facilities are to be enlarg ed and topped with gravel At the hall board meeting held Thursday April 12 Edna Ferguson producer of the upcom ing Globe Dinner Theatre Just Go To The Movies came to voice her concerns of having adequate park ing having the water in the old sec tion of the basement corrected etc Along with Hall Board members Mrs Ferguson was greeted with the news of Erin Township Council passing a resolu tion that every facility under the- jurisdiction have proof of in liability insurance on the part of the renter before it can be rented The proof can be obtained through your personal insurance agent or by purchasing a policy for the evening such as PAL Party Alcohol Liability insurance The implications of this resolution are to be discussed at a later meeting Jim Bailey was given the goahead to build picnic tables for the park Childrens playground equipment have now been ordered The hall board meets again this week as there was just too many items to cover Look for black and gold pants with white shirts on the Jim Bailey Diamond instead of the earlier reported navy blue for the Jim Dandies A subsequent meeting bad the colors changed The ladies baseball team now have their new uniforms and have started prac tiring Monday nights have been designated practice nights with a few Sunday afternoons
